## [The Impact of National Primary School Competitions – Spelling and Times Tables by the University of Manchester](/content/primary-school-competitions-mtc-cup/index.html)

The University of Manchester studied the impact of Emile’s National Primary School competitions covering spelling and times tables (the MTC Cup). All the Emile competitions were found to have a **“significant effect on recall and fluency.”**

Across the MTC Cup, the percentage of students getting 25 out of 25 increased from 25.7% to 49.7%.

Across the Spelling Competition, 81% of students increased their effective spelling age by at least 1 year.
