Emile makes such an improvement to the children's multiplication skills. ...Our September average score was 5.1, I thought they stand no chance of reaching the MTC national average from last year let alone whatever it is increased to this year. However, on Friday their average score was 23.5!

The University of Manchester were given access to all the results from the MTC Cup.

(The data was of course anonymised in line with our Data Protection Policy and GDPR.)

Highlights from the report include:

The average daily score was 20.1 on the first day of the competition compared to 23.42 on the last day of the first round.

The proportion of students attaining greater than or equal to 20 increased from 67.6% to 93.25% between the first and last day.

The proportion of students attaining 25/25 over the first round was also seen to increase. On the first day, 25.71% of students got full marks, compared to 49.73% on the last day.

Our Year 3 and 4 children have found the MTC Cup extremely motivating. It has boosted their scores dramatically with many children scoring 25/25 for the very first time. However, and probably most importantly, their confidence has soared! Children who usually dread doing their times tables smiling and talking about how well they are doing! Absolutely brilliant!

My Year 4 class love this competition.

It’s super easy to set up and very easily accessible. The children get 15 minutes before assembly and then their full Maths lesson to access the competition. It’s very user friendly and every child has the opportunity to have a go.

The competition is great for improving their times tables scores and acts as an incentive to practice more at home.

I would absolutely agree that it has improved the children's confidence and ability to answer correctly as they understand the impact it has as a whole class. Definite sense of teamwork and encouraging each other to do their best.

Kids absolutely loved taking part and they all said they noticed a big improvement in their scores over the course of the event. Some of them carried on at home on the Wednesday evening and when they got up on the Thursday - that's commitment for you!
